Some of ICOD’s Recent Activities:
> Regional Social Survey - Preparing and launching a regional survey on the social attitudes and behavior of people in seven countries in collaboration with the Eastern Michigan University.
> Developing a National Protection Program - In collaboration with several local and international NGOs and agencies, prepared and advocated for a protection program for women including writing a law and lobbying for its ratification at the parliament.
> Implementation of the World Values Survey for Lebanon - WVS is an ongoing academic project by social scientists to assess the state of socio-cultural, moral, religious and political values of different cultures around the world. The project was implemented in collaboration with the Eastern Michigan University, USA and the Ersta Sköndal University, Sweden.
> Facilitation for an International Aid and Fundraising Strategy for Norwegian People’s Aid- This facilitation included several brainstorming sessions and focus groups on donor relations, optimizing performance, creating competitive advantages, segmenting markets, image building making a social difference, etc.; in addition to creating an overall strategy to NPA.
> Implementation of a Complex Relief Program in the South of Lebanon - Implemented, monitored and evaluated a medium term recovery project aimed at improving the livelihood of small farm households in 10 villages in the south of Lebanon that had been adversely affected by war. The program was funded by the British Government Department for International Development and implemented in collaboration with International Relief and Development.
> Facilitation of a Strategic Planning process for Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation - The participatory process included consulting with partners, staff, and stakeholders over a period of six months and then conceiving a strategic plan for the organization for the next four years.
> Organizational Development for the Arab Resource Center for Popular Art - This consultancy included several aspects such as conceiving a tailored Human Resource Policy Manual, Setting a Salary Scale, Organizational Charts and formulating functional and motivating job descriptions and performance appraisal forms.
Other:
> Organized capacity building workshops for over 10 Iraqi Woman Associations aimed at stimulating their strategic thinking, helping them develop proper understanding of civil society role and providing them with practical management tools and skills to develop and manage their NGOs.
> Wrote the ‘Code of Ethics’ to the consultants of the MENA region in collaboration with INTRAC and IMTI.
> Facilitating a process among the UNRWA, the Lebanese Government and the Palestinian representatives and organizations on the Employability of Palestinians in Lebanon.
> Organized several capacity building workshops for farmers in the South of Lebanon.
> Provided consultancies on media, fund raising techniques and emergency response to the Imam Sadr Foundation.
> Provided organizational assessments, strategic and business plans for four Palestinian NGOs and forums working in Lebanon.
> Provided management and structural consultancy for the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization.
> Capacity building and policy development for the Lebanese National Demining Office (Lebanon Mine Action Center) and the local organizations working on mine awareness and victims’ support.
> Facilitated a process on networking and advocacy aimed at “Legalizing the Protection against Family Violence” in the Arab world – an initiative organized in collaboration with the ‘KAFA’.
> Facilitated and elaborated a strategic plan for ANND, the Arabic NGO Network for Development, one of the biggest regional NGO networks in the Arab world.
